Travel Photo Journal: Lavender Festival 6/19
Nothing beats a spontaneous trip.
I am a big planner. My iPhone notes are packed with lists and plans for travel, outfits, meals, restaurants, weekends, gym work-outs- you name it. Trips are planned right to the hour so you can just imagine that spontaneous trips rarely happens in my life but when they do, I am reminded that wonderful memories can be created even when I am not in control. #enneagram8probs
Phoebe has been raving about Highland Springs Ranch & Inn and it’s festivals since the beginning of the year. She visited a fermentation festival in February and she vowed to come back and experience more of its fun and humbly curated events. Prior plans faltered and we had nothing to do on a sunny Saturday and Phoebe was reminded of the Lavender Festival that Highland Ranch was hosting. Next thing you know, we dressed up and drove to Cherry Valley, California. With little to no expectation, I was just enjoying the fact that I was being driven and was amongst good company. We parked our car and hopped on over to a comfortable shuttle that drove us to the ranch. The smell of fresh lavender embraced the air while Édith Piaf croons La Vie en rose in surrounding speakers. I was immediately transported to what could be a lovely little French countryside in Provence.
Picturesque, glowing, and fragrant.
The Lavender Festival included vendors, lavender-infused cuisine, and live music. In addition, their farm stores were stocked full of lavender scented gifts, beautiful and yummy breads, teas, chocolates- you name it. Phoebe and I enjoyed refreshing cocktails flavored with lavender which we loved and lavender-flavored desserts that we didn’t love. Ha!
It was pure bliss to photograph this gorgeous place so I hope you enjoy the photos as much I enjoyed editing them. If you are in SoCal, I definitely recommend a trip to Highland Ranch. And I also wish you a spontaneous trip soon. Don’t worry about anything. Just dress up, drive, and go! Ce n’est pas la mer à boire.
