Summer's moving right along with the first of July! But tell me, is it really Summer without the annual county fair? Known to be the one of the largest county fairs in the United States, the San Diego County Fair means the start of every SoCal local's Summer. Fried errthang foods, carnival rides, exhibit halls, concerts, and games that will challenge your self control- this classic Summer outing has become my circle and I's Summer kick-off tradition to celebrate the sun, salty air, and luxurious long days.
This year's "How Sweet It Is" San Diego County Fair theme is a kid-in-a-candy-store-wonder, emphasizing how sweet it really is to live in SoCal! We enjoyed hunting for Unicorn-inspired foods with electric shades of pink, blue, and yellow, served by food vendors on the grounds. Speaking of food, this year's diabetes-in-your-mouth and artery-clogger winners are the Unicorn cotton candy ice cream sandwich, ramen burrito, and deep fried chilly cheesesteak. Yes, you read correctly.
Phoebe said my outfit looked like I came straight out of the movie Coco so I twirled my skirt and wiggled a lil' dance because I will gladly represent! I knew I wanted to be colorful, playful, and festive and I believe this Free People matching set did its job. And yes! Plus-sized girls can wear Free People too! Free People carries a lot of oversized clothing and I usually fit their size large or medium oversized styles (this set I'm wearing is a size large). I added fun glasses, my new favorite walking sandals, and my go-to belt bag as I embrace Summer and all its glory.
The San Diego County Fair is winding down to its last days so make sure to catch it before we are back to wishing Summer to come again. What are your traditions to kick-off Summer?
