Summer to Fall

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face.
— John Donne

I am a little late to wear this adorable Summer dress from Lovedrobe but I was up for the challenge to turn this Summer dress into a Fall-appropriate look. Stumped on what to do with all the maxi dresses you accumulated this Summer? Well don’t pack them away just yet because maxi dresses are the perfect transitional piece. Below are some tips on how to transition in to Fall with your favorite Summer maxi:

  • Accessorize! Add a neckerchief, a hat, a scarf, fuzzy socks, or even opaque tights.

  • Layer with a statement jacket. This Johnny Was military-inspired jacket was the perfect topper for this Bardot neckline. My favorite place to spend my fashion budget is definitely in the arena of jackets, blazers, and coats. They can make such a large impact on the overall tone and look of an outfit that they can eclipse Summer fabrics and prints, making them more Fall-inspiring.

  • Add deeper tones. Simply add deeper colors with your mani/pedi, lippie, or accessories.

  • Choose the boots. Boots are an Autumn staple that easily make all of Summer outfits warmer and more functional. Wear your Summer skirt with thigh-high boots or your favorite ripped jeans with ankle boots.

The turning of the leaves doesn’t have to mean saying goodbye to all of your Summer wardrobe. By adding darker colors, richer textures, and a little added warmth, it’s easy for your Summer clothes to stick around for another season. How do you transition your closet to Fall?
